The Cups and Awards of Tenby Sailing Club

The following cups are awarded each season:
Cornish Down Bowl	First Helm for the Whole Season. 50% of races sailed to count.
Founders Cup	Awarded to the first crew for the whole season.
Brynhir Cup	Awarded to the second helm for the whole season.
M. Grant Cup	Awarded to the second crew for the whole season.
South Beach Pavillion Cup	Awarded to the third dinghy helm for the whole season.
Aussie Cup	Awarded to the first helm for the midweek dinghy series. 50% of races sailed to count.
Colonel Howells Cup	Weekend dinghy races. 50% of races sailed to count.
Commander Lock Trophy	For weekday cruiser races. 50% of races sailed to count.
St. Catherine's Cup	For the cruiser gaining the most points during the season. 50% of races sailed to count.
Weekend Challenge Trophy	For weekend cruiser races. 50% of races sailed to count.
Monthly Prize	A prize will be awarded each month. If there are four or more races sailed, there will be 1 discard.
Copland Shield	For the Redwing gaining most points in July and August. 50% of races to count.
Encouragement Trophy	For the boat having most points without winning any other trophy.
Chris Crockford Trophy	Awarded for truly outstanding youth achievement in sailing.
Stella Maris Trophy	Awarded to the most outstanding crew.
RNLI Trophy	For the most regular sailor not having won any other trophy (under 18).
Masthead Trophy	For services to sailing at Tenby Sailing Club.
Boucher Cup	Frostbite series; two race to be discarded.
Attendance Prize	Separate prizes for dinghies and cruisers awarded to the boat with the greatest number of starts across the whole season.

General Notes:

The RYA Portsmouth Yardstick Scheme as set out in the Current YR2 will be used. Boats without Portsmouth Numbers published in the current YR2 will be allocated a number.
A minimum of 2 boats can constitute a race.
The helmsman of the boat accrues the points in any given series. (*2008)
Unless stated otherwise, 50% of the races for any given series will count towards the overall results rounded to the greatest whole number. i.e. If 7 races sailed then 4 will count. (*2008)
Overall prizes will be awarded for the first six places. (*2008)
Races sailed on a Friday are classed as weekday. (*2008)
For both Dinghy and Cruiser sailing, seasonal and monthly series results will also include relative finishing positions of qualifying boats in all open entry events held at the club.
Single race trophies are, wherever possible, scheduled to take place on the first Sunday of every month.
The start/rescue rota will be displayed on the Club Notice Board. Volunteers will be awarded 3rd place points to count in all trophies except series with 3 races or less. For all other series 00D points will be awarded for an individual helm for a maximum of 10% of races sailed by fleet.
Racing will take place under the current ISAF rules of sailing, the prescriptions of the RYA, the appropriate class rules and local amendments displayed on the Club Notice Board.
The Club shall not be held responsible for any damage to or loss of property belonging to members, their guests or visitors nor will the Club accept any liability for personal injury sustained by members, their guests or visitors arising out of the use of club premises, the club boats (or any facilities provided by the club) or participation in any event organised by the club whether or not such damage or injury shall be occasioned by the neglect, default or negligence of them, the officers, committee members or servants of the Club. (The Club, in this rule means the Officers, Committee and members either collectively or severally).

Local Sailing Rules

Competitors should become familiar with and adopt the principles and practices of the RYA Racing Charter, which seeks to promote fair and enjoyable racing for all. (Printed at start of RYA Racing rules booklet.)

The races will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing, RYA prescriptions and any local amendments.
A motorboat is to be detailed to be in attendance during club racing unless the race Officer decides otherwise.
All occupants of dinghies must wear an approved buoyancy aid at all times. (Alteration only at Sailing Captain's discretion) (This alters Rule 40.1)
Racing will be Average lap racing where possible.
Protests must be lodged within 20 minutes of the last boat coming ashore.
Boats may use paddles or other means of propulsion to clear the Harbour entrance (an imaginary line between the pier and the seaward side of Goscar Rock) even after the 4-minute signal.
In conditions when engines are needed because of imminent danger of collision Rule 42 must apply. However the penalty can vary from "No penalty to Disqualification" A protest committee can decide the penalty for individual boats each one on its merits in relation to any advantage gained.
For a series of 3 races, 2 races sailed and completed to count. 1 discard if 3 races sailed. Points will only be awarded to the same helm/boat combination.
For longer series points will be awarded to the helm, not the boat.
Where a trophy is not competed for on the advertised date it shall automatically be sailed for on the next race, which does not have an allocated trophy.
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party insurance with a minimum cover of Ł1,000,000 per event.
Every dinghy must have adequate buoyancy.
Unless stated otherwise there is an overall time limit of 2 hours or 1 hour after the first boat finishes, whichever is the earlier. (This changes Rule 35.)
The Committee may make amendments or additions to these rules at any time These must be displayed in the clubhouse for at least 7 days before taking effect.
