Weekly Report 01/05/2017

Launch party

Friday May 12th from 7.30pm. Come along to see the newly refurbished Club Room and Bar.

Most of the work was done in February and March by a very enthusiastic small group of lady members. Michelle, Diane and Jane.  Others helped but they deserve the special mention.

Canapés and bubbly on arrival. There will be live music later to tempt you to stay for the evening. New selection of wines specially tasted and approved in advance by the bar committee. So if you haven’t been down to the Club for a while why not give it another try.

Everybody welcome.

Try Sailing

On Sunday 21st May the Club will be taking part in the RYA “Push the Boat Out” scheme, offering anyone who wants a go at sailing the chance to have a go in club boats with experienced helms; for those with some experience perhaps in a single hander, for others maybe a cruiser or club rib. The event will be on Sunday 21st May; if you would like to have a go please contact Ted Lewis on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to book your place.

Club Sailing

No results available at present, but sailors please note the first Tuesday evening race was last Tuesday and these will continue weekly at 7pm Tuesday evenings until mid September.

Junior training.

The cold weather and strong winds resulted in most groups doing shore work.  The stage 4 group did venture on the water and went over to the more sheltered First point side of the bay. The opportunity was taken to fit in some Rib training for those doing their PB2 certificates. Juniors are reminded that there will be a day of introductory race training for those with stage 2 and above on Saturday May 13th. This is to be run at Tenby and organised by RYA Cymru Wales.

Cruiser Racing

The first race was cancelled due to the force 5 /6 South easterly .  The sailors that did turn up went for the other option of sampling the drinks at the new bar. We hope that conditions will be better for the race scheduled for tomorrow Sat at 2.30 pm.

Membership renewal

Renewals were due in January. The first full member in a household is £60. The Senior Citizen rate now applies to those aged 65 and above. For those who wish to re-join, there is no re-joining fee. If you would like to set up an annual standing order for your membership fees, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. All forms etc are available on the club website.

Volunteers needed

We are presently short of a club secretary. If you would like to help please email Ted Lewis on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
