Extracts from the Constitution of Tenby Sailing Club

11.     Membership



Ordinary Membership


3.           Membership of the Club is open to the whole community without discrimination. Candidates for membership shall apply to any Committee Member who shall cause the application to be placed on the Notice Board for at least 7 days prior to a Committee meeting, when it may be brought before the Committee. The Committee may elect a candidate or not as they think fit and a majority decision shall be final. All applications must be accompanied by the appropriate subscription, which will be refunded if the candidate is not elected.



Temporary Membership

4.    (a)    Visitors may be accepted as Temporary Members by a Club Officer with the Secretary subject to an interval of at least 2 days between them becoming temporary Members and their admission and to the payment of the appropriate subscription.

        (b)    Temporary Members shall be entitled to the full amenities of the Club except that they shall not be qualified to be Officers or Members of the Committee, or to vote as Members.

        (c)    Visitors taking part in certain types of races, regattas or other competitions, together with their families, friends or supporters, or persons attending such functions as may be specifically arranged or approved by the Committee not less than 2 days prior to the date of the function, shall be considered without payment to be temporary members for the duration of the event.

        (d)    The Committee shall have power to accept temporary group membership provided that the total numbers in such groups shall not be significant in relation to the total membership of the Club. The subscription shall be at the discretion of the Committee.



Life Membership

5.            Any person being a Member of the Club shall be eligible for Honorary Life Membership of the Club at the recommendation of the Committee at an Annual General Meeting and election shall be by a majority vote at a secret ballot.



Membership Cards etc.

6.            A membership card shall be supplied free to every member.


Suspension and Expulsion

7.    (a)    Any member who is more than 8 weeks in arrears with his subscription may, at the discretion of the Committee, be suspended until such arrears have been paid.

        (b)    Should the conduct of any Member, either within or without the Club premises, be in the opinion of the Committee injurious to the interests of the Club, or if any Member refuses to submit to, or infringes, any of the Rules of the Club, the Committee shall have the power to call upon such Member to explain his or her conduct. If the Member concerned shall not explain his or her conduct to the satisfaction of the Committee, they shall call upon him/her to resign. Should he/she not do so within one week the Committee may thereupon and without further enquiry expel him/her and a notice be posted in the Club to that effect. A 2/3 majority vote of the Committee present shall be necessary in either case.



Club Bar

27.        Only full Members (not juniors) may introduce personal guests, limited to 2 on any occasion. They must sign the Visitors’ Book. No guest may be admitted to the Club more than 3 times in any one calendar year.
