Pedestrianisation Survey of Harbour Users.

Many thanks to those who returned a completed form.

We were concerned that lack of access to the harbour was affecting sailing and boating activities during the traffic ban period. Certainly there was virtually no use of the club bar during lunchtime and we will have to consider whether it is worth continuing the practice of opening lunchtimes in the school holidays. No one can just pop down to the club any more. It has become a time consuming feat for anyone living out of town.

The survey results show that 75% were not in favour of the scheme and wanted many changes such as a smaller area affected, shorter hours, access to the harbour at least for loading and unloading.

An alarming 65% said that the traffic ban affected the use of their boat some saying they did not use their boat at all during July and August. Many of the others either did not have a boat or lived near the harbour.
