     Tenby Sailing Club

Dear Members,

It is with fond memories I reflect on the summer of 2007 as autumn envelopes us with her dark evenings; it seems just a few moments ago that the club was full to capacity with all the activity of the summer events. But now as the boats have come out of the harbour we realise there is nothing we can do to stop the onslaught of winter.

The committee has laid on a packed social program to get us up to the Christmas break so please feel free to come down and join us in the comfy surrounding we have created for you to enjoy. As you will read in the attached news letter there is plenty on offer with quiz nights, catering, bands and of course the annual dinner.

This year we have gone a for a new venue for our big night out; Trefloyne Golf Club is a bigger location altogether so we can expect to spread out a little more than we have in previous years and make it a night to remember.

On the water the dinghy scene continues to thrive as the sea temperature remains pleasant enough for comfortable sailing. The new Osprey fleet continues to expand and I'm sure by next season the racing will be even more competitive than this year. Other racing dinghies have also arrived to boost the Tenby scene. We open our arms to the growing Asymmetric fleet, mainly crewed by adrenaline seeking teenagers flying large spinnakers on bowsprits. A tiny hull and a trapeze have meant a lot of swims for the newcomers, but I'm confident that with guidance and safety in mind they will progress soon enough and be snapping at our heels when the conditions are right.

Personally speaking as my time as Commodore comes to an end it dawns on me how far we have come in the last two years: a bigger fleet of training dinghies, extra safety cover, a clubroom makeover - it all bodes well for the future. So I take this opportunity to thank you all for the support you have shown both to myself and the club over two very busy seasons; we are a members club run by members for members and I thank you.

All the best, stay safe and don't sail too fast!
