Last Wednesday's sailing was cancelled due to the unsuitable conditions which disappointed the eager turnout. However, all was not lost, as the members were treated to an outstanding barbecue, the last one of the season, prepared by the legendary Terry Evans, with Karen Morris making a huge contribution to the success of the evening. The club thanks Terry and all who have helped in putting on a barbecue every Wednesday throughout the season. Sunday's racing again saw a large turnout, with conditions in contrast to Wednesday's. The Redwings did not fare as well as last week, with the Phantom of Ted Lewis splitting the podium spots. The results are as follows: 1. Rolly Squibbs and Jonathan Lewis in a Redwing; 2. Ted Lewis in a Phantom; 3. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton in a Redwing. This was the last of the season's points races. The Frostbite series commences this Sunday, the start being at 11 a.m. prompt. The social programme, as mentioned last week, is being drawn up at this moment and will be included in the next newsletter, which is imminent. One important date which members should note is the annual dinner and prize-giving, which is on Sunday, November 20th. Please contact Mike Stace on 844484 for further details - the club would appreciate it if you could make your reservations as early as possible. We have joined the town darts league this year - the first match is imminent so watch this space. Practice is now compulsory - captain Terry Evans has great expectations this year. Howard is still 'pulling them in' on Fridays and Saturdays - why not come along and enjoy great food in warm and convivial surroundings. He looks forward to feeding you. GP14 |
