Tenby Sailing Club Race Results.

Friday 5th December 2003

Vertical rain and no wind meant the usual band of eager mariners had to content themselves with a cup of coffee on the club's balcony whilst putting the 'world to rights'.

The cruiser fraternity fared no better on the Haven as all participants ran out of wind against a strong tide. Better luck this Sunday.

Just a reminder to the dinghy sailors that sailing will take place up to and including Boxing Day, after which there will be a winter recess for essential maintenance etc.

The social scene continues. Tomorrow (Saturday) evening when there will be a quiz with a seasonal flavour, accompanied by good food such as beef casserole & beef curry. Why not tease your brain cells and taste buds in one session? All are welcome.

Next Friday, December 12th, the annual junior party and prize-giving takes place, commencing at 7.30 p.m. This is always a fun event, with mums and dads very welcome. Please make every effort to attend to support the juniors, after all they are the future of the club. It would be appreciated if participating members would bring along some eats - many thanks in anticipation.

A newsletter will be circulated soon which will contain a proposed programme for the new year.

Darts

Spending a week on cloud nine after our last win left us in an overconfident state. We paid the price for being unable to finish on doubles, and lost to a deserving Cross side.

This (Friday) evening we are at home to the New Inn. Captain, Terry Evans, who led by example last week, has warned his players that he will deal with sloppy finishers with at least a keelhauling. Participating members please note the venue and the warning.

Christmas Carvery

Reservations are now being taken for this popular event on December 20th. To avoid disappointment, please contact Blake Shaw on 842535 as soon as possible. During the evening, the draw for Julia Dashfield's bumper hamper will take place. Tickets for this are being circulated with the imminent newsletter - they are also available at the club. Many thanks to Julia for preparing this lavish hamper. Please make Julia's efforts worthwhile.

Annual General Meeting

The club's annual general meeting recently took place, with retiring commodore, Rolly Squibbs, commenting on the continued success of the club and thanking members for all their support during his tenure.

Mike Stace was elected as new commodore, with Daniel Jackson progressing to vice-commodore and Mark Dashfield to rear-commodore.

Mike Stace thanked members for the honour bestowed upon him and reiterated Rolly's comments on the future success of the club.

The new committee met last Monday and I am delighted to announce there will be no rise in membership fees for next year. In fact, the subs are due on January 1st - as an incentive, any members wishing to pay their subs before January will qualify for a bar voucher, redeemable before the end of March. New membership secretary, Julia Dashfield, can be contacted on 844918. Many thanks to Sheila Spiller, retiring membership secretary, who so freely gave of her time over the last three years doing a difficult job.

Many thanks also to retiring committee members John Moore and Royce Thomas for their major contributions over recent years.

Finally, anyone interested in joining this warm and friendly club should contact any member for further details. We look forward to meeting you.
