Tenby Sailing Club Social Events.

Friday 6th February 2004

As mentioned in the last two articles, the winter break means no sailing, but there's plenty happening on shore.

Essential maintenance work is taking place, which includes boat refurbishment, checking of ground tackle, marks etc. All this takes time and effort.

If any members able to lend a hand, please contact Rolly Squibbs on 842170 or Mike Stace on 844484. Many thanks in anticipation.

Social Scene

The social scene continues to flourish as the following paragraphs will testify.

Darts

What's happening? We won against a very spirited opposition. Terry Evans played a typical captain's role by throwing the winning dart. It was a great performance with the recent hero, John Akrill, playing a significant part in the winning game.

There's no darts match this evening, so the obligatory darts practice will take place. There will be several meals on offer this evening, including Terry Evans's legendary chips made from 'real' potatoes.

Meals will be served from 8 p.m. onwards. Participating members please note.

Quiz Evening

By popular demand there will be a quiz tomorrow (Saturday) evening. Please support this impromptu venture - there will be 'major prizes' for the winners. For the ravenous amongst you, there will also be a selection of meals available, again including 'proper' chips. Proceedings get underway at approximately 8 p.m.

St. Valentine's Supper

This takes place next Saturday, February 14th. Please contact Mike Stace on 844484 to make a reservation. Reservations are going very well, so book early to avoid disappointment as numbers are limited.

Mike and Deanna always produce delicious fare - we look forward to the evening with mouth-watering expectation. How does a starter of 'roasted tomato soup with basil puree' sound? Proceedings will commence at 7.30 p.m.

Looking to some events further ahead, would members please note the following dates:

  • Saturday, February 28th - Cheese and cawl evening;

  • Saturday, March 6th - Greenhill Jazz Band (subject to confirmation)

  • Sunday, March 7th - Table sale at the clubhouse (details to follow)

  • Saturday, March 13th - The Great Jig Saw Race.

Subscriptions

Annual subscriptions are now due. Please contact the membership secretary, Julia Gwyther, on 844918 for further details.

Finally, anyone wishing to join this thriving club should contact any member who will be delighted to provide further details. We look forward to meeting you.

Winter Withdrawal

          Tally ho!

In this time of little water based activity we need to find a way of keeping the spirit alive, with this in mind I have compiled a list of books that have sat on my bookshelf for the last 12 months never to be opened again. If anyone is interested in reading any of the below just drop me an e-mail. Likewise if you have a collection that you don't mind lending out please let me know. All books are in "as new" condition.

          Best regards,

Dan Jackson - Sailing Captain     www.teamenigma.co.uk
