Last Sunday saw conditions not conducive to sailing. However, the intrepid Wayfarer fleet did get onto the water for a nanosecond - common sense prevailed and all returned safely to the safety of the harbour. Let us hope that conditions will be such that sailing will take place this Sunday. The winter series got underway on the Haven with the usual large turnout of yachts of all sizes. The wind at the start was about a force three, but well into the race it gained in strength to at least a force six, which meant some midstream reefing. The Tenby contingent fared very well with the conditions. I'm pleased to report that Daniel Jackson, in yacht Artful Dodger, came second in division two, while Billy Stubbs, in yacht Amphora, and Blake Shaw, in yacht Slipstream, came second and third respectively in division three. The social programme is imminent and will be included in the newsletter. Two important dates which members should note - the club annual general meeting will take place on Saturday, November 13th, and the annual dinner and prize-giving will take place on Saturday, November 20th. Please contact Mike Stace on 844484 for further details of the dinner - the club would appreciate it if you could make your reservations as early as possible. DartsThe first match of the new season takes place this evening. We are at home to the Three Mariners - participating members please note. If the recent practice sessions are anything to go by, it promises to be a long and hard season. Captain, Terry Evans expects a minimum standard or else there will be 'substitutions'! Howard is still 'pulling them in' on Fridays and Saturdays -why not come along and enjoy great food in warm and convivial surroundings? He looks forward to feeding you. GP14 |
