Tenby Sailing Club Race Results & Social Events.

Friday 11th June 2004

Alas, the sometimes unpredictable nature of electronic devices denied readers of last week's literary epic. Life at the club has been busy both on and off the water. The Sunday races have been well attended indeed, with the Redwings not having it all their own way.

The results for Sunday, May 30th, were as follows:

          1. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton in a Redwing; 2. Neil Roberts in a Topper; 3. Elliot Doney in a Topper.

Last Sunday's race officer, Mike May, assisted by Angelo Fecci, certainly laid a course to test all participants. After some interesting quotes at the start and at the first mark. the eventual finishing positions were as follows:

          1. Ted Lewis in a Phantom; 2. Rolly Squibbs and Mark Home in a Redwing; 3. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton in a Redwing; 4. Daniel Jackson in a Moth.

After his success in the cruiser series on the Haven, it was a different kind of sailing for Daniel Jackson in his newly-acquired Moth.

I'm sure his win will be celebrated for weeks.

I'm delighted to report that Bill Dowell and Nan O'Ortez had a very successful time in Saundersfoot's Coppett Hall Week. Nan informs me that they won the Redwing class and were indeed the first Tenby boat. All our sailors who participated congratulate Saundersfoot Sailing Club on another successful Coppett Hall Week.

Sailing as normal this Sunday and also on Wednesday when a points race is scheduled to follow the sailing training.

Looking ahead, the club looks forward to the annual Hobbs Point to Tenby Passage Race. This event always attracts a flotilla of cruisers of ranging sizes which enhances the already spectacular Tenby Harbour and North Bay.

Looking further ahead, the club's annual regatta takes place on the weekend of July 3rd and 4th. On Saturday, July 3rd, the racing will commence at 12 noon, while Sunday, July 4th, sees the Island Race.

The Island Race, which circumnavigates Caldey in an anticlockwise direction, is always a spectacular event which attracts crafts of all shapes and sizes. More towards the date.

The social side continues to flourish with Howard Ball's 'à la Carte' menu proving very successful. Friday evening gorgers look forward to his offerings with mouth-watering anticipation. Eating as normal this evening as well as tomorrow.

The other world famous practitioner of fine cuisine, Terry Evans, continues to overwhelm members with his legendary Barbecues. Every Wednesday and occasionally on Saturdays, these irresistible Barbecues will take place to satisfy the ravenous membership. Can you resist - of course not!

Jazz Band

The club is delighted to announce the return of the talented Greenhill Jazz Band who delighted an appreciative audience a few weeks ago. They will appear on Saturday, June 26th, commencing at approximately 8 p.m.

An evening not to be missed - members and friends please note.
