Food ClubNick will on duty this evening and tomorrow evening (see below), ready to quell the hunger of the ravenous Saturday noshers. St. Valentine's Day SupperI'm delighted to announce that Nick has agreed to put on a spread to celebrate St Valentine's Day. How does a four courser grab you? This will take place tomorrow, Saturday, February 13th. There are still a few places left. Please contact commodore, Terry Evans, on 844256 to place a reservation. DartsI expect you're waiting to read about the inevitable defeat. Well, our optimism was well founded. Against all expectations we won. Yes we won! I'm sure you will want to know the fine details. Hence there follows a detailed account of this momentous win. As usual we did not start well, narrowly losing the first two games. But then Rolly Squibbs started the great revival. His win seemed to spurt the rest of the team into winning ways. Captain, Terry Evans, followed with a superb fight-back to narrowly win his game, as did vice-captain Colin Parmenter. At the halfway stage the scores stood at 3-3. An inspired piece of team selection led to the first doubles game being won by the partnership of Marc Shepherd and Ruth Tebbutt, with Ruth securing the win with a superb finish of triple ten followed by double nineteen. The next game was narrowly lost leaving the score at 4-4. Terry Evans and Colin Parmenter made up the final pairing who did not succumb to the immense pressure. Both scored well and Terry, after scoring a magnificent 84, left Colin on a double nine which he duly secured with a single dart. The roar of success must have been heard from the top of the Preseli Mountains. The Cross A played their part in a most enjoyable evening and congratulated the club on a well deserved victory. I understand the celebrations are still going on. This evening we have no league fixture so it's practice time. Members please note.
