Tenby Sailing Club Race & Social Event Report

Friday 12th February 2010

Another fall of snow at the end of January 2010

It won't be long before we're all sailing again

Food Club

Nick will on duty this evening and tomorrow evening (see below), ready to quell the hunger of the ravenous Saturday noshers.

St. Valentine's Day Supper

I'm delighted to announce that Nick has agreed to put on a spread to celebrate St Valentine's Day. How does a four courser grab you? This will take place tomorrow, Saturday, February 13th. There are still a few places left. Please contact commodore, Terry Evans, on 844256 to place a reservation.

Darts

I expect you're waiting to read about the inevitable defeat. Well, our optimism was well founded. Against all expectations we won. Yes we won! I'm sure you will want to know the fine details. Hence there follows a detailed account of this momentous win. As usual we did not start well, narrowly losing the first two games. But then Rolly Squibbs started the great revival. His win seemed to spurt the rest of the team into winning ways. Captain, Terry Evans, followed with a superb fight-back to narrowly win his game, as did vice-captain Colin Parmenter. At the halfway stage the scores stood at 3-3. An inspired piece of team selection led to the first doubles game being won by the partnership of Marc Shepherd and Ruth Tebbutt, with Ruth securing the win with a superb finish of triple ten followed by double nineteen. The next game was narrowly lost leaving the score at 4-4. Terry Evans and Colin Parmenter made up the final pairing who did not succumb to the immense pressure. Both scored well and Terry, after scoring a magnificent 84, left Colin on a double nine which he duly secured with a single dart. The roar of success must have been heard from the top of the Preseli Mountains. The Cross A played their part in a most enjoyable evening and congratulated the club on a well deserved victory. I understand the celebrations are still going on. This evening we have no league fixture so it's practice time. Members please note.

Jam Session

The next jam session takes place this Monday, February 15th not the 17th as originally stated. Members and friends please note. Don't miss it, it's the place to be!

Newsletter

A new newsletter has been circulated which includes details of sailing and social events. There are copies available at the clubhouse.

Visit to PHYC

As mentioned in previous articles, the club has accepted an invitation to visit Pembroke Haven Yacht Club and participate in a games challenge evening. This will definitely take place on Saturday, March 6th. Members please note.

Members and friends are invited to watch the Six Nations rugby on our big screen. We will be open tomorrow for the eagerly awaited Wales v Scotland game, kick off 2 p.m. Food will also be available to satisfy the ravenous.

Cheese and Cawl eEvening

On Saturday, February 27th , the legendary cawl maestro, Terry Evans, will be serving this annual treat. It's always useful to know approximate numbers. So, should any members and friends wish to participate please contact Terry Evans on 844256. A vegetarian option will be available. Thanks in anticipation.
