No sailing at Tenby last Sunday due to a fierce easterly. Sailing did take place on the Haven, but unfortunately some structural damage occurred on a few boats which meant retirement. This Sunday is the final of the series so hopefully all boats will be fully functional for a great finale. Sailing as usual on the dinghy front this Sunday. The promised newsletter has been circulated to members. It includes news and dates of the social programme. I've extracted a few as follows: Today (Friday): This evening, the annual junior party and prize giving takes place. All are welcome, especially parents who can relax in a warm 'quiet' atmosphere while their offspring 'boogie'. The club would appreciate a food donation - many thanks in anticipation. Saturday, December 20th: The Christmas carvery reservations are building. This is always a popular event, so to avoid disappointment, contact Blake Shaw on (01834) 842535 to make a reservation. DartsGuess what? We lost! There will be a public keel-hauling for some key members who did not pull their weight! Captain Terry Evans and commodore Mike Stace led by example, but their expectation of the other participants did not materialise. This (Friday) evening we are away to the Sun Inn, St. Florence. Captain Terry Evans expects a superb performance, especially in his absence. Members please note! Quiz EveningThe evening was a great success, with several teams vying for poll position. Quizmaster Terry Evans controlled the occasional fiery moment with his usual panache. The winning team consisted of Mark and Julia Dashfield, Nicole Evans and Mike May. Well done team! As well as teasing their brain cells, Terry Evans and Blake Shaw 'sweated buckets' in the kitchen preparing copious quantities of mouth-watering food to tease the members' taste buds. All agreed the evening had been tremendous fun. Many thanks to Terry and Blake. Christmas HamperAccompanying the newsletter are raffle tickets for the annual sumptuous Christmas hamper prepared by Julia Dashfield. Please return your counterfoils to Julia as soon as possible or bring them to the carvery on December 20th, when the draw will take place. Julia has put in a lot of effort in preparing this hamper, so let's all support her efforts. GP14 |
