Last week, I briefly wrote about the frequently asked questions. Parents often ask very pertinent questions concerning opportunities for the younger section of the population. The club offers sailing tuition for prospective junior sailors which, hopefully, lead on to sailing at a more senior level both locally and in a representative mode. Training sessions normally begin in May and they take place on Wednesday evenings. These sessions will be supervised by highly qualified instructors who are also very experienced sailors. The success of these sessions is down to parents and instructors working together - good teamwork reaps its rewards which is reflected in the club's reputation in race management both locally and nationally. Anyone interested in participating in these training sessions should contact principal instructor, Blake Shaw, on 842535. DartsThe pre-match pep talk given t by captain, Terry Evans, had no effect whatsoever. We were thrashed for the second week in succession by a very good Sun Inn team. The only success of the evening was by Terry Evans and commodore Mike Stace. There's no fixture this evening. Instead of the obligatory practice session, there will be the inaugural Club Darts Championship - this is open to all members and also members of Saundersfoot Sailing Club. What an evening in prospect! St. Valentine's SupperThe evening lived up to expectations. Mike and Deanna put on a spread which would challenge the skill of Gordon Ramsay. The meal was prepared and served in manner akin to any top restaurant, with the quality of the cuisine out of the 'top drawer'. Many thanks to Mike and Deanna for their efforts and to Suzie and Sam Radion for invaluable contributions - we look forward to more of the same next year! If you want to see what you missed, the menu can be seen elsewhere in these pages. Tsunami AppealOn the evening of Friday February 25th, the club is delighted to host Greenhill School's quiz in aid of the Tsunami Appeal. This is a most worthy cause which deserves your support. We look forward to quizzing you. R.N.L.I. SeminarThe club was privileged to host a seminar given by leading officers of the R.N.L.I. The speakers gave a very detailed overview of Tenby's new lifeboat which created a buzz amongst a large audience consisting mainly of the local lifeboat personnel. The new boat is in the final stages of its development and construction, and will be put through its paces in Tenby in the near future. It contains state-of-the-art technology and its performance in trials conducted so far has impressed all observers. The seminar also included a detailed report of the development and construction of the impressive lifeboat station which is due to open soon. The evening was a very informative one which was greatly appreciated by all present. Great Steak EveningThe eagerly awaited steak evening is imminent - next Saturday, February 26th. Terry Evans will be chef for the evening when he will prepare his legendary steaks for the ravenous masses. If you intend to participate, please contact Terry on 844256 - he needs to know numbers for ordering purposes. There will be fish as the vegetarian alternative. An evening not be missed - he looks forward to feeding you. Other Dates
Other activities are in the pipeline which will include, for example, a quiz with a particular theme and a games evening - watch this space! SubscriptionsIt's that time of year again.
