Last Saturday's passage race from Hobbs Point to Tenby drew many participants. Variable wind strength meant that some cruiser helms made the decision to motor up the sound. However, many did finish under wind, with Tenby's John Griffiths in Tejeda and Daniel Jackson in Enigma finishing first and second in their division. Well done! All the competitors enjoyed exchanging experiences in the clubhouse after the race and were treated to the usual excellent barbecue put on by Terry Evans. Sunday's racing drew a large turnout, with several junior members eager to take on their senior peers. With fair wind conditions, they enjoyed excellent sailing with the final 1-2-3 : being: 1. Bill Dowell and Nan D'Ortez in a Redwing; 2. Tommy D'Ortez in a Topper; 3. Angelo Fecci in a Topper. On Sunday evening, the cruisers race drew fewer participants than usual, due to holiday and work commitments. Winner was Ted Lewis in Hawke 22, with Daniel Jackson second in Enigma. Unfortunately, I have not received the name of the third position. Last Wednesday's racing and training drew a large number of participants. Many thanks to Ed Dashfield for running the training session so efficiently. The racing was keenly contested, with Ted Lewis again faring very well in his newly acquired Phantom. The final 1-2-3 was: 1. Ted Lewis in a Phantom; 2. Tommy D'Ortez in a Topper; 3. Angelo Fecci in a Topper. Again all members were treated to a mouth-watering barbecue put on by Terry Evans. Whilst on food, Howard Ball, our club steward, is catering this weekend. Regular members please note. Finally, anyone interested in joining this warm and friendly club should contact any member who will supply you with further details. We look forward to meeting you. |
