Normal service was resumed on Sunday with a large turnout in enjoyable, delightful sailing conditions. A bright morning, a north-westerly force two provided plenty of excitement, especially rounding marks when several boats were very close. Race officer, Helen Williams, set a course such that the lead was constantly changing. All agreed the morning had been a most enjoyable one, with the final 1-2-3 being: 1. Rolly Squibbs and Alex MacDonald in a Redwing; 2. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton in a Redwing; 3. Dan Lewis in a Laser. The closeness of the racing was highlighted by the fact that only one second separated the second and third positions. Great stuff! Racing as normal this Sunday - racing continues through until Boxing Day. Whilst members of Tenby and friends from Saundersfool enjoyed themselves locally the usual cruiser fraternity did battle in somewhat stronger conditions on the Haven. Conditions were ideal for testing the tactical skill of the helms and their boat handling prowess. Our members did well against several local members who 'know' the Haven well. In division two, Daniel Jackson came a noteworthy second in a strong fleet. Billy Stubbs and Tony Spiller were equally successful in division three in yacht Amphora, while Blake Shaw and his entourage were close on their heels in fourth place in Slipstream. Annual Dinner and Prize-GivingThe annual dinner was held last Saturday with a very large turnout. All agreed the evening had been a great success and we look forward to next year's soirée. I do not have the prize- winners to hand, but will report the annual successes next week. Club Annual General MeetingTomorrow (Saturday) evening, commencing at 7.30 p.m., the club is holding its annual general meeting. This is an important event in the club's calendar which gives members the opportunity to mould the club's future. Please make every effort to attend. DartsLast Friday's darts practice session was dominated by John Ball who was certainly on form. The ravenous amongst the darters were treated to the usual mouth-watering efforts of Terry Evans. This evening we are at home to the Crown, who are always a 'mean' outfit. We will need to muster all our darting skills for success; participating members please note. Future EventsLooking ahead there are a few events which members and friends may like to take note of: Saturday, December 6th - A Festive Poems and Pints; Friday, December 12th - Junior Party; Saturday, December 20th - Christmas Carvery. We look forward to feeding you. GP14 |
