Tenby Sailing Club Race Results & Social Events.

Friday 22nd October 2004

At last conditions were such that sailing could and did take place on Sunday. The winter series, aptly named the Frostbite series, has started very well with a large turnout enjoying a lively sail. The final positions were:

          1. Steve Stubbs (Laser); 2. Ted Lewis (Phantom); 3. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton (Redwing).

Racing also took place on the Haven, with the Tenby contingent again faring very well. In Division Three, Blake Shaw, in yacht Slipstream, and Billy Stubbs, in yacht Amphora, came first and second, respectively. The race was run over a course designed to test the tactical awareness of both helms and crews - the results are a testimony to Blake and Billy's sailing skills.

In Division two, Daniel Jackson did not fare so well. While being comfortably in the lead, Daniel had to make a vital decision concerning the rapidly approaching Pembroke-Rosslaire ferry. "Do I take the ferry or not?" - Guess what? Wrong decision. Daniel now realises that his yacht's mass, relative to the ferry's, is minuscule, which makes manoeuvring slightly one-sided. As a consequence of this error of judgement, Daniel forfeited his leading position. Better luck next week, Dan.

Darts

Guess what? We lost, again by the narrowest of margins. Again our nemesis is the inability to get the finishing double. Captain Terry Evans and Rolly Squibbs were the stars of the team, with Terry in particularly good form. Unfortunately, the rest of the team did not aspire to the same heights.

This evening we are at home to the Woodlands - captain Terry is away this weekend, so Mike Stace will be in the driving seat. He has told Terry that he expects a vast improvement this evening!

Annual General Meeting and Annual Dinner & Prize Giving

The annual general meeting will take place on Saturday November 13th. This is an important event in the club's calendar - it is an opportunity for members to have a say in the club's affairs.

The annual dinner and prize giving takes place on Saturday November 20th, at the Fourcroft Hotel. The menu and reservation slip is included in the newsletter. Please contact Mike Stace on 844484 for further details.

Other Dates

  • Saturday, October 30th - Great news! Howard, by popular demand, has agreed to cater this evening.
