Tenby Sailing Club Social Events.

Friday 23rd January 2004

As mentioned last week the winter break means no sailing, but there's plenty happening on shore. Essential maintenance work is taking place which includes boat refurbishment, checking of ground tackle, marks etc. All this takes time and effort. If any member is able to lend a hand, please contact Rolly Squibbs on 842170 or Mike Stace on 844484. Many thanks in anticipation.

Scalextric Challenge

The format of tomorrow's (Saturday's) Scalextric Challenge is as follows. Each race will be 15 minutes long preceded by a five-minute warm-up. Distances and lap times will be computerised, with the grand final taking place between the two competitors with the best statistics as generated by the computer.

Included in the entry fee will be bar food, so why not come down and pit your wits against fellow members. It promises to be a fun evening; there are limited entries so book your lanes early to avoid disappointment.

St. Valentine's Supper

This takes place on Saturday, February 14th. Please contact Mike Stace on 844484 to make a reservation. Reservations seem to be on a par with last year, so book early to avoid disappointment. Mike and Deanna always produce delicious fair. We look forward to the evening with mouth-watering expectation.

Darts

We won! What a turn up. Trailing heavily after the singles, the troops rallied to win the match with the narrowest of margins. Captain Terry Evans led by example - he had to after his previous week's dire performance. He and John Akrill had to win the final game to win the match. After good scoring the game was won by some remarkable throwing by the evening's hero, John, who, under enormous pressure, scored successive double 8s to secure the game and match. John's modesty was seriously put to the test by the praises of the team. Well done John - more of the same this evening when we are away to the Cross Inn, Broadmoor. In the absence of captain Terry Evans, who is engaged elsewhere, commodore Mike Stace will take over the captain's role.

Subscriptions

Annual subscriptions are now due. Please contact the membership secretary Julia Dashfield on 844918 for further details.

Finally, anyone wishing to join this thriving club should contact any member who will be delighted to provide further details. We look forward to meeting you.
