Tenby Sailing Club Race Results.

Friday 30th May 2003

The rowing competition was a great success. The large contingent of rowers from far and wide were impressed by the club's facilities and hospitality.

A successful event does not happen overnight. It requires the time of several members who work as a team. Many thanks to all those who gave of their time. A special thank you again to Julia Dashfield and her entourage for their unstinting efforts in the galley and to Mike Stace for his superb barbecue. Obviously, no sailing took place at the club, but several members are taking part in Saundersfoot Sailing Club's Coppet Hall week. We wish them well - results next week.

Tomorrow (Saturday) evening the club's holding an open evening for potential young sailors. This is intended to give young enthusiasts an opportunity to learn to sail under the supervision of very experienced instructors. Should any youngster be interested, why not come down tomorrow evening at 6.30 pm with parents to discuss details with a Series instructor.

The scheme is primarily intended for youngsters, aged eight or over, to learn to sail in our fleet of Optimists. Optimists are ideal for very young trainees - they are very stable and give confidence to their young helms. For further details, contact Blake Shaw on (01834)842535.

Wednesday junior sailing continues with the more experienced trainees now mainly sailing Toppers. Gather as usual at 5.30 pm for a 6 pm start. Terry Evans's Wednesday barbecues have begun - members please I note.

Would committee members please note the next meeting is I on Sunday, June 1. As a consequence of this, the scheduled cruiser race has been moved forward to tomorrow evening. Contact cruiser captain John Griffiths on (01834) 842703 for further details.

Whilst on cruisers, a race took place last weekend with results as follows: 1. John Griffiths (Tejeda); 2. Daniel Jackson (Enigma); 3. Rolly Squibbs (Sapphire).

Racing as usual this weekend for the dinghy contingent with a scheduled race on Saturday and a cup race on Sunday, usual start times. Finally, anyone interested in joining this warm and friendly club should contact any member for further details. We look forward to meeting you.
