Tenby Sailing Club Race Results.

Friday 31st October 2003

Sailing took place last Sunday, both at Tenby and the Haven. The Tenby dinghy contingent enjoyed the conditions and the course set by race officers Mike Stace and Deanna Morton.

After several hairy moments, all competitors safely made the finishing line, the final positions being: 1. Ted Lewis (Phantom); 2. Angelo Fecci (Topper); 3. Dan Lewis (Laser).

Meanwhile, on the Haven, the usual large turnout did battle in variable conditions which were much lighter than the previous week. Blake Shaw, with a diminished crew due to choral commitments by some of his regulars, came seventh in Division Three, while Daniel Jackson came fifth in Division Two.

Blake and Daniel did very well in the previous week's racing, coming second and third, respectively, in their divisions. There were only a few metres between Blake and the yacht which pipped him.

It's always pleasing to report the success of our junior sailors. Tommy D'Ortez took part in the recent training session by the WYA held at Plas Menai. Tommy's efforts were such that he has been selected for inclusion in the Welsh squad, along with Govan Berridge, of Saundersfoot Sailing Club. Many congratulations to these two talented youngsters.

The social scene continues to busy as per the recently circulated newsletter.

Fireworks and Hallowe'en Evening

Tonight (Friday) is Hallowe'en, which is the theme for this evening's fireworks and nosh soiré. The fireworks will be set off at approximately 8 pm.

Fireworks should be brought to the club by 7.45 pm so that we can coordinate events.

As well as fireworks, there will be Terry Evans's famous bangers and mash with his renowned onion gravy. This will be served from approximately 7.30 pm onwards. We look forward to feeding you.

Annual Dinner Dance

The annual dinner dance and prize giving takes place on Saturday, November 15. This is always a popular event, so please book now to secure your place. Please contact Mike Stace on (01834) 844484 for further details.

Darts

We were firmly put in our place last Friday by the Crown However, a great time was had by all. No darts this (Friday) evening. We are away to the Chemist next week. Participating members please note.

Much Appreciated

Sadly, our club steward, Howard Ball, finishes tomorrow (Saturday) for the winter season. He is, however, putting on his usual a la carte menu, so let's support Howard by turning up in droves. The club thanks Howard for all his efforts this season. Much appreciated.

Finally, a reminder to committee members that there is a meeting on Monday, November 3.
